Power Conversion

Ferroxcube provides optimal materials for different operating conditions. Working temperature, flux and frequency are the key parameters to select the proper material: from standard 100 deg C to 60 in handheld converters or 140 in automotive, or even wide range 20 to 100 or 60 to 140. Converters operate at a wide switching frequency range, depending on the voltage, power and cost constraints: for each range Ferroxcube offers specific materials working from just a few kHz (inverters, high voltage systems) to tens of kHz (consumer and computer SMPS), hundreds of kHz (high efficiency, compact converters) and even MHz.

Ferroxcube materials contribute to improve the efficiency of the converter by decreasing the losses on the magnetic components leading to cost competitive smaller cores.

EMI Suppression

Electro-magnetic interference (EMI) severely affects the operation of electronic equipment, either if the noise is generated by the device itself or it is received from the environment. Ferrites exhibit excellent EMI protection against common mode and differential conducted noise, since their insertion loss is proportional to frequency thus showing no attenuation to signals, but high impedance to high frequency noise.

Ferroxcube offers a wide range of materials for different frequency bands, thermal conditions and type of noise to be suppressed, with complete data and characterization to ease the design process. Materials can be found in most appropriate shapes for its use: toroids for common mode chokes, cable shields, beads, rods and several ready to mount solutions like SMD beads, through hole wideband chokes and encapsulated cable shields.

Signal Processing

The main application areas for signal processing are telecom filters, proximity sensors, wideband signal transformers, pulse transformers and delay lines.

For filter and sensor applications, it requires medium permeability, low loss and high stability over periods of time. For wideband signal transformers which are frequently used in communication systems and digital networks such as ISDN and DSL, high permeability are needed.

In many electronic devices, it is necessary to delay pulses for a short, well defined time. The delay time is determined by the saturation flux in the ferrite core and the applied voltage. Requirements for the material are: high pulse permeability and high saturation flux density.
