What Engineers Need to Know
- N = Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) Magnet Material
- No letter suffix = Base material (Max Operating Yemperature 80°C)
- Suffix letters indicate temperature capability:
M – Max Temp 100°C
H – Max Temp 120°C
SH – Max Temp 150°C
UH – Max Temp 180°C
Temperature rating matters—especially in motors, sensors, and high-power applications where heat directly impacts magnetic performance and reliability
Why UH & High-Temp Neo Matter
In many applications—especially motors—heat cannot always be “engineered out.” When operating temperatures climb, magnet selection becomes critical.

HRE-Free Materials: What’s Available Today
Heavy Rare Earth (HRE) materials such as Dysprosium (Dy) and Terbium (Tb) are increasingly restricted and difficult to source.
Good news:
A growing selection of HRE-free neodymium materials is now available. Allstar tracks what is available, what is restricted, and what is coming next—so you don’t have to.
- HRE-Free = No Dy or Tb required
- Many grades were available prior to tariffs and remain compliant
- Expanded availability across moderate and high-temperature ranges
- Newer materials (including MLQ grades) are emerging as demand grows
- HRE-free grades highlighted in blue are available with a minimum order quantity of 225 lbs.
